What are the benefits of Essential Oils?

Updated: May 21

Just a year ago, a friend asked me if I would like to try their products. She worked for a company which was selling pure essential oils. There was no hesitation from my side because I had tried using it with a different brand before and I could attest to the effectiveness of pure essential oils or blends. It depends on your body's needs, but this would do wonders, and definitely make you feel better.

How does it work?

I have found out that essential oils are primarily extracted through the process called steam distillation and cold pressing.

It works by putting 2-3 drops of volatile essential oil into the diffuser filled with distilled water. As you turn it on, it will diffuse into the air, leaving the room smelling good and it is very relaxing to inhale. In order to maximise the effect, you must try to diffuse at least one hour inside your room, in the bathroom or even into your living room. Each essential oil is characterised by its own unique scent.

Depending on the use, it can help in easing headaches, body pains, indigestion, period cramps and many more. For example, lavender oil promotes relaxation and it can make you sleep better when inhaled before bedtime. It's almost the same effect as chamomile oil. It can also be used for more 'deep' relaxation by combining it with lemongrass and eucalyptus oils, this will now be considered as blends.

Essential oils have aroma that is calming, relaxing and comforting. Many suffer from anxiety and depression nowadays, not everyone has the ability to cope well with extremely challenging times. I believe that using essential oils may help to counter these mental battles, emotions, feelings and thoughts. They are very efficacious when used according to its purpose, as potent as vitamin C! :) These are extracted from organic plants, flowers and fruits so you are sure about the health benefits on the skin and inside our bodies. As we inhale the soothing, herbaceous smell, this will go down and be released into the blood stream, a remedy that is more natural than medicines.

Some oils are used for aromatherapy which helps relax the mind and reduce stress. These are mostly applied topically during massage treatments. Uses of essential oils are not limited to just being aromatic, but they are also used in making soaps, shampoos, etc. Perhaps, candle-making is another thing you can do. Room sprays and natural perfumes can also be done by using the right ingredients to make a formulation. I have read somewhere that Grapefruit and Lemon create a great scent when infused together along with the carrier oil. You can use either Fractionated Coconut oil or Jojoba oil as carrier oils.

Another famous among the essential oils is Peppermint oil which can help ease tension headache by rubbing on your forehead and temples. By making a blend, it goes well with Frankincense oil and Ginger oil to relieve Vertigo. How about oils for your home to have it smelling fresh and clean? Lemon, lime and lavender oils can give both calming and citrusy scent, and fight odour in the environment.

There is a 'Do-It-Yourself' way to enjoy essential oils for your own convenience.

You will just have to purchase a 10 ml roller ball bottle, put 3 drops of lavender oil and 3 drops of Peppermint oil, then

fill the rest with the carrier oil. You can place this bottle on your bedside table, or you can even take it anywhere you go. Sometimes, we feel really stressed at work or already feeling sick as soon as we wake up in the morning so this comes in handy whenever we need it.

For my personal use, I have my own desert mist diffuser in my room and I also bought an ultrasonic diffuser for my son. It has classical music, relaxing sounds of pouring rain, beach waves, birds chirping, and the forest. My son loves it so much and asks me every night to turn it on before he goes to sleep.

What are my top seven essential oil favourites? In my opinion, at least the most important ones to have in your home. These include Lavender, Frankincense, Lemon, Peppermint, Sweet Orange, Lime, and Grapefruit. These are all very useful, they can be blended well with other oils quite generally, meaning to say, it is compatible with almost any oil, and they are mild and gentle on the skin. When used properly, these essential oils can make your skin glowing and can even reduce pores. Hence, it is a good idea to purchase essential oils for your overall well-being. There are many brands out there, and they are all selling online. It is very convenient to place an order.

Please remember, you can always use the brand of your choice. 💚 But personally, I'd prefer trying different brands.

All brands offer different pricing rates for their products. You can make a research of which ones are more affordable but have the same excellent quality so that it will be possible for you to make it a lifestyle.

To do:

Dissolve Epsom salts in your bathtub filled with warm water, and add 4-6 drops of lavender oil for a relaxing bath to seal the day.

Cheers to wellness! 🧡
